Obituary of George Paul Van Etta

Obituary George Paul Van Etta, age 70, was surrounded by his family as he passed away peacefully on August 20th, 2020, the 32nd anniversary of his marriage to his wife Sherrin. George was born on June 9th, 1950 to James Paul and Grace Georgia Van Etta in Oakland, CA. Upon his 1969 graduation from Saratoga High School, George enlisted in the US Army. A Vietnam Veteran, he was exposed to Agent Orange and dealt with numerous health issues over the past 25 years. Overcoming a major heart attack followed by quintuple bypass surgery in 2001, George required kidney dialysis beginning in 2013. A grateful recipient of a heart and kidney transplant in 2014 he also battled cancer over the past few years. Through all of this, he worked hard, reluctantly retiring in 2018, at the age of 68. George was an avid dart player for many years playing in leagues that provided him the opportunity to travel often for tournaments. He represented the United States at the World’s Master Dart Tournament, in England, for two consecutive years. George was preceded in death by his father, James Paul Van Etta, and his mother, Grace Georgia Van Etta, and his niece, Felicity Van Etta. He is survived by his wife, Sherrin Van Etta, son George Paul Van Etta II (Gale), daughter Lisa Lynn Van Etta (Romero), grandchildren Kaitlyn Kremer (Zack), Fiona Nicole Van Etta, and George Paul Van Etta III, sister Laura Miele, sister-in-law’s Renée Corbishley and Tabitha Altamirano in addition to several nieces and nephews whom he loved. George will be laid to rest at California Central Coast Veterans Cemetery, 2900 Parker Flats Cut Off Rd, Seaside, CA 93955 on Friday, September 4th, 2020 at 11 AM.
