Margot, I was so saddened to hear of your loss. I will always remember his laugh and his strong voice. We could hear him from the dugout yelling "throw a strike"! He was always there to help coach and he definitely knew his sports! He loved his family and his community. I remember all the laughs and wine at our house while the kids ran around practicing baseball. If there wasn't a sport in heaven before, I'm sure Joe has started one now! You have my deepest sympathy and know you will meet again.

David and I were very sad to read of Joe's passing.
We will always be grateful for the difference he made in our lives and never forget the leadership and unselfish mentoring he demonstrated on the field of play during our time with him between the white lines and on the hardwood.
Our best wishes to Margot, Mike and Anthony.
May his memory be a blessing.

Condolences to the whole family, for your loss. From here, from the land of his ancestors, I can appreciate his skills. Genetics is very strong, because by reading the type of man he was, I can see the typical characteristics of a Remígio: good character, super-versatile, fond of nature, trustworthy friend, available to others and above all respectful of humans values. Strong hug.

Joe was not only one of my closest cousins, he was my longtime childhood “Trotting Park Road Crew” running mate. We shared a great many growing up experiences, trials, and tribulations (some good and some not so good from the parents perspective). He was also my “best man” at my wedding in 1975 (on his birthday no less). And I was honored to be his best man at his and Margo’s wedding day back in the early 80’s. While the California distance between Salinas and Oceanside kept us apart over the years - we did stay in touch over the last many years - to include a few special visits. Joe was a special friend, warmhearted family cousin, and a truly wonderful person, man, husband, and father! He would give you the shirt off his back without hesitation. His passing has left a real whole in my heart and his friendship will be sorrowfully missed. Rest In Peace my good friend! Love you man! ❤️

Joe always enjoyed coming to the Cape. His favorite love was seafood. Mike and I always enjoyed Clam boils with Joe and his family. He always wanted to pitch in. He could eat more clams than anyone I knew. Rest in the sweetest peace Joe you will be missed

Lynn Carr (Margot’s sister) posted a condolence
Joe was such a devoted father to Anthony and Michael, he was so very proud of their accomplishments. He cherished his grandson, Gregory. He was caring, patient, and so helpful to our parents. And above all loved my sister very much.
One fond memory of Joe is when Jennifer, Madeleine and I visited Joe and Margot in Buzzards Bay, MA (1984). Margot was working in Plymouth and Joe would take the girls and I to do various things. He took us to visit a decommissioned submarine that was in Fall River. 8 year old Madeleine took off down the middle of the submarine Joe was so good he ran after her and caught her on the deck. She really gave us a fright. He also took the girls clamming in the mud and catching fireflies in jars. We enjoyed a clambake with his family in Falmouth and learned about his families prized strawberries.
Over 36 years our family shared many holidays, birthdays, sports, Christmas scavenger hunts, graduations and various events. Joe loved to barbecue especially Linguiça sausage. Our mother’s favorite.
He will be sorely missed and never forgotten.

I taught Joe to fly in the early '80s. His longest flight, I think, was to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, with Sean Tucker. I remember Joe as being a "hoot" to be around because of his sense of humor and friendliness. I saw him a few times through the years, but haven't seen him in probably 10 years. I'm so sorry to hear of his passing, but the world is a better place for his being here. Gary Tuovinen

Our families' lives intersected when Michael and my son Brian were in kindergarten together. The boys' friendship led to connections between their parents, and we are so very saddened to read this obituary. Margot, Michael, and Anthony, it was always crystal clear Joe adored you beyond measure and was so very proud of his boys. Wishing you peace and holding you in our hearts.

Margot, I couldn’t believe when I first met you in California that Joe’s parents lived in Acushnet, MA! Exactly where I’m from! Joe was like a piece of home for me, down to earth, never lost his accent, solid guy. I am so sorry that he is gone from us. I will be keeping you and the boys and their families in my thoughts and prayers.
Love, Sue Pilat
