Dear Geyer Family. Thank you for notifying me of Leslie‘s passing. I met Leslie in 1999/2000 as a member of the Junior League SPAC committee. Together we, along with other SPAC committee members in California, worked diligently on passing important legislation in California to protect children, women and families. Leslie was an asset to her community and any cause she supported. She will be missed by many. My sincere condolences. Cynthia Paulo

Leslie was such a spark plug and brightened up every room she walked into. She had a loving, "can do" attitude that I witnessed first hand working with her on Stanford Alumni Club events. She seemed to be always surrounded by her friends, a testament to her loyalty to all those who knew her. She will be missed! My condolences to her family, Karen Letendre

We have a lot of great memories with Leslie. We became friends about 1981-82 when we all attended Hal Lindsey’s church. She hosted our weekly Bible study group at her house for several years in Palos Verdes, south of Los Angeles, where we all had fun studying and socializing. She had a very good eye for photography and took our photos when Hal baptized us.
When she moved to Santa Barbara, she invited several of us up for a house warming. No matter where she was living, she would encourage us to visit whenever we could. After we moved from Redondo Beach to San Jose, we visited her often in Carmel and then Carmel Valley, including for her 70th Birthday celebration. On one occasion we met her Mom when we all went to church together. She was one of our friends we could have many in-depth conversations on a range of topics.
One year the three of us went to the famous car show, The Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. Jay Leno was the master of ceremonies and kept us all laughing. Then, to show what a small world it is, a friend of ours from Los Angeles won the raffle prize, an Audi TT Coupe.
Every year without fail, Leslie would send us birthday and anniversary cards. As she got older and could not write them herself, she had high school girls come in and hand write them as she dictated what to say.
It was fun to meet Tracy and Charlie, when they were teenagers; and then later to meet Tracy’s children. Leslie kept us up to date on their lives so we felt like we were there.
No matter where she was, she exuberantly embraced life and all it brought. She could have been a one-person Chamber of Commerce. In a way, she was, through all her activities for charities and civic groups.
Leslie was a wonderful friend and we will greatly miss her, but once it is our time to pass on, we will be seeing see her again.

I got an email from Tracy and Charlie telling me that Leslie had left us. They said that they had found my name in her contact list so assumed that I must be "a treasured friend." I replied that Leslie never met a stranger and that we were all her treasured friends. I am merely her classmate. In high school, I was a little intimidated by Leslie's confidence and up-front personality. Years later when she helped organize class reunions, I learned how sweet and caring she could be. It's hard to believe that this vibrant personality has gone...Long Live the CHS Class of '57 !

Leslie had one of the longest Curriculum Vitae I have ever come across. A very impressive list of charitable and helping organizations on her CV. When we had a class reunion for Carmel High School grads, I had the responsibility as Class President for life but Leslie is the one that made it happen. I will miss her infectious laugh.

Dear Tracy and Charlie, thank you for letting me know of Leslie’s passing. I met Leslie through a Bible study group at Carmel Presbyterian Church. She was the leader of our group. She was a lovely lady with a bright smile and an absolute joy to be around. After I moved out of the area, we remained in touch through an online prayer group Leslie implemented to lift up those in need. Dear Tracy and Charlie, I am so very sorry for your loss. God bless your family. Sincerely, Judy Silguero

Dear Tracey and Charlie,
I loved your dear Mom and I miss her very much. I met Leslie almost 15 years ago through a mutual friend Lois Lagier. We were instant friends. I loved her enthusiasm and we shared many of the same interests. We put together a crafting group ... made succulent wreaths, .. wild hats... ginger bread cookie wreaths. We had a ball! We often went to Bach festival events together and tried to continue our outings when things got more difficult with her walking and dexterity.
I loved her infectious laugh. I see others loved that about her too. I too was invited to her hat closet. She had such beautiful tastes and was a stunner in her colorful hats and accessories. We loved to lunch at the Beach Club. I have two very fond memories.. during AT&T, Leslie had the privilege of driving one of the players because he was afflicted with bad knees. We were partying on the course and low and behold, Leslie delivered none other than Bill Murray to our party. We all had a drink and a blast and Leslie delivered him to the next hole keeping him on schedule to hit his next shot. Leslie made things happen! My other fond memory was going to a play at Pac Rep. She chose the play- it was a bit esoteric as we sat there perplexed trying to understand its message. And then... the actors progressed to a nude scene. It was quite serious but our vantage point was directly behind the actor’s round rump... Leslie started the giggle first, then I followed, then another round of giggles , louder.. louder...until we were laughing like immature school girls and had to leave the theater. She was always so much fun. It was hard to see her deteriorate.
I’m very glad some have noted her connection to DAR. She texted me one day because she remembered I was from PHILADELPHIA. The news was that DAR had just donated George Washington’s authentic war tent to a new museum due to open in historic PHILADELPHIA. I called them because of Leslie’s tip and I am now very involved with this fabulous museum: The Museum of the American Revolution. Go see it if you ever get the chance. The tent exhibit will fill you with such emotion! I love that Leslie was my connection to that. Tracey and Charles thank you for listing Leslie’s ancestral connection to colonial PHILADELPHIA.
To my dearest Leslie, you will not be forgotten . I carry you everywhere!

It is with deep sadness that we learned of the passing of Leslie Geyer. She was indeed the dearest of friends to the Fund for Homeless Women. Leslie was among the initial group of community members who learned about the plight of single homeless women on the peninsula, became enraged by their reality and chose to advocate for services that would better meet their unique needs. Besides her encouragement and financial support, Leslie helped to organize a community response. She also went into her closet and began what is now a tradition of offering gently used clothing to enhance health, improve self-esteem and assist women in their quest for employment. Although actively engaged in several other causes in the community, no one will forget the role she played in planning and implementing our first pancake breakfast fundraiser. With many other committed friends of homeless women, Leslie helped create an event that was like no other. And in spite of the health challenges she was confronted with in these most recent years, Leslie retained a positive outlook, was pleasant and self-sacrificing in all that she did and said. Good bye, Leslie, Thank you for your ever constant friendship. We will always remember your brilliant smile and infectious laugh. We will be forever nourished and strengthened by your love. Leslie was wonderful to us when we started out helping homeless women living out of their vehicles in Monterey County, CA nearly 10 years ago.
When my wife, Tia and I moved to the area, we discovered many elderly newly homeless women living out of their vehicles. At that time it was illegal to sleep in your car no matter what the circumstances. These women were generally homeless for the first time and beyond frightened. They had fallen into this situation for a variety of reasons that included skyrocketing rents, physical abuse and medical debt.
Leslie and friends worked diligently with us to raise awareness and monies to help these women and the 100's of others that have followed over the years. Without their experience and guidance we would not have been able to start our full time charity that helps homeless folk temporarily living out of their vehicles. onestarfishsafeparking.org
Every year, we are able to help so many with health dilemmas, increase their incomes and most importantly, find permanent housing. Often lifetime supported housing. All of this happens because of Leslie's initial push and direction. She helped make the world a better, more compassionate and more rational place.
Your loss is the worlds loss. And very much our personal loss. Thank you for sharing Leslie with us. Our thoughts will stay with you.
Most respectfully and with love,
Michael & Tia Fechter

Dear Tracy and Charlie...
I knew your mom for about 20 years thru the Oriental Arts Society here in Carmel. She was a classy lady, always willing to pitch in and help with a project, with membership recruitment, with planning trips to San Francisco, and anything else where just an extra hand or extra push might be helpful.
My father was Colonel Gregg McKee and he led the OASAMP for many years, and even put together and took interested members on trips to China over this period. I'm not sure, but I think Leslie went on one of those trips. She always had an enthusiasm for Chinese art, so we had lots to talk about.
When my father died, she came to the Paul Mortuary funeral home in Pacific Grove and remained for several hours, helping us to deal with our loss. I remember it well, and I appreciated her support.
I tried to have Leslie over to my home for dinner last year at about Christmas time. I called and talked with someone on the phone. Perhaps it was one of you. But that dinner was not to be as Leslie was unable to come. My wife and I went to dinner with Leslie about 6 months before that, at her residence community. That was the last time we saw her.
I think we have all lost a really lovely lady. We will miss her.
Best Wishes...

I knew Leslie for many years in both the DAR and Colonial Dames. I served with her on the board of the local Colonial Dames chapter. She was an upbeat energy-abundant lady with great ideas and a wonderful sense of humor. She took one of the best photos anyone ever took of me. It was one day when I was sitting next to her at a luncheon and she tapped me on the shoulder. When I turned around to face her, she snapped the picture. The gesture was so spontaneous, just like Leslie. The photo ended up in the Christmas newsletter and in copies framed for my grandchildren. Over the years I was so touched by Leslie's personal interest in others and her always cheerful attitude. May she rest in peace.

My sweet sweet Grandma is finally no longer a prisoner to her body. She taught me that it was ok to find love but to never be fully dependent on someone. Work hard and be able to stand on your own two feet. She put the love and desire for travel in my heart and feet. I owe my Gypsy soul to her. She was a classy lady and I am thankful she is no longer in pain.
I have many many fond memories with her. She introduced me to sushi, we used to have a tradition of painting pottery together. She was very well rounded and always encouraged me to pursue any dream that came to mind. I would fly by myself to visit her on my breaks from school and she would make me feel so special by giving me all her attention and setting up “the princess” bed for me.
She was the only grandparent that I ever had and ever knew and she was so special that I never felt that I was lacking in the grandparent department.
She loved parties. She was either attending parties, planning the next party, or throwing a party. Everyone who knew this lovely lady couldn’t help but love her. She was always the life of any party.
I love you Grandma Leslie. Thank you for all the love and support you have showered over me my whole life.
