Obituary of Evelyn Perrine Swopes

Evelyn Perrine Swopes 92, of Marina, California, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 8, 2021 at a health care facility in Monterey, CA. She was born Evelyn Josephine Furno on February 27, 1928 in Hermione, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Joseph B. and Evelyn (Lesnicky) Furno. The daughter of a coal miner and former Westover City Councilman, Evelyn was raised in Westover, West Virginia where she graduated from University High School, Morgantown, WV (CO 1946). Evelyn, along with her first husband and their two sons, moved to Porterville, California in 1962 where she would continue to raise her family. Evelyn moved to Marina, CA in 1985, and before retiring found employment as a receptionist and office manager for many years at the Stanley Appliance Company in Carmel, CA. Evelyn enjoyed the beauty of the Monterey Bay area, collecting coins and stamps, playing card games, and socializing with her family and friends. Evelyn was a former member of the Porterville Emblem Club and the Marina Kiwanis.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Eugene B. Perrine, her second husband, Richard T. Swopes, and two brothers, Joseph B. Furno and Fred W. Furno.

Evelyn is survived by her two sons, Robert Perrine of Bakersfield, CA and James (Clara) Perrine of Marina, CA, 2 grandsons, 6 great grandsons, 1 great granddaughter, and 1 great-great grandson.

Evelyn was a devoted mother and grandmother whom will be missed greatly by all the lives she touched. A private family service will be held.
