Obituary of Linda Meyer McCauley

Linda M. McCauley, a resident of Monterey for 55 years, teacher at La Mesa School, and one of the original docents at the Monterey Bay Aquarium, died Saturday, October 23. She was 78.

Linda Lee Meyer was born in Rocky Ford, Colorado and raised in Longmont. She was graduated from Colorado State College in 1965. She taught for a year in Colorado Springs and moved to Monterey to teach at La Mesa School. She taught 1st grade and 5th grade from 1967 to 2006, when she formally retired. She returned to La Mesa to teach science, a subject she loved, until 2018. She adored the ocean, The New York Times Crossword, and the San Francisco Giants.

She is survived by her son, Eric McCauley (Sara), of Carmel; brother Lee Meyer (Laura) and stepmother Debby Shaffer Meyer, both of Longmont; and two nieces. At her request there will be no memorial service. Her ashes will be scattered in the Pacific Ocean and at a family gathering in Colorado.
