Obituary of Michael Eandi

Michael Eandi of Pebble Beach, California passed away peacefully on April 15 from complications related to ALS with his wife and sons at his side. Michael was born and raised in Springfield, Illinois by his parents Andrew and Marjorie Eandi. He graduated from Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois, where he was president of the SAE fraternity. After college, Michael went on to the University of Illinois Medical School, and later completed his Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California. Dr. Eandi spent the following two years working at Castle Air Force Base in Atwater, California. He began his OB/Gyn career on the Monterey Peninsula in 1977 where he enjoyed delivering babies and taking care of their mothers until his retirement in December of 2010. In addition to his private practice, Dr. Eandi served on various committees focused on improving patient experience and care at the Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula. Michael was multi-talented and ambitious. He became an Eagle Scout at the age of 14. He loved music at an early age and played saxophone and clarinet in a dance band as well as sang in a barbershop quartet in high school. He also played on the Lanphier High School basketball and football teams and ran track. He continued his interest in sports as an adult, serving as the Pacific Grove High School football team doctor when his sons were students. Michael enjoyed sailing, even maintaining three different boats in the Monterey harbor at various times, as well as restoring and driving his Austin-Healey. He was an avid photographer who meticulously captured perfect moments. Michael was also a voracious reader of all forms of literature, and was always learning. Mike married his high school sweetheart, Joyce Lascody, in 1967. They enjoyed 49 years of sunsets together. They explored the world, traveling to Europe, China, Tahiti, Alaska, Hawaii and many states on the mainland. Some of their favorite pastimes were cross country skiing, going to jazz concerts, wine tasting, attending Giants games and sports car races at Laguna Seca. Michael was very proud of and enjoyed spending time with his sons and their families. He especially enjoyed being with his grandchildren, whether watching their performances, cheering at sports games, exploring the world, enjoying a meal or watching movies together.
