Obituary of Josephine Ann Martino

Josephine Martino, our beloved mother passed away on Saturday, March 18th, and is back in the arms of our father Albert Martino. Josephine was born on November 18, 1927 to Andrew and Jenny Cardinalli. She was the youngest of 12 children where they lived in Monterey on Decatur St., and then moved to Monroe St. She worked at the Golden State Theater and in 1944, met the love of her life, Albert, and they eloped in 1945. They then moved to Seaside to raise their family. Josephine and Albert enjoyed camping with their children in Big Sur, and in later years, going on bus trips to Reno, and fishing off the wharf and O'Neill forebay at San Luis Reservoir before Albert's passing in 1992. She is survived by her three children, Virginia (Jim) Baker, Bernard (Susan) Martino, Jeanine (Anthony) Ferrante, brother John Cardinalli of Hollister; 5 grandchildren; Mark Baker, Debbie Ibarra, Brad Baker, Victor Martino, Maria Martino and 15 great-grandchildren. Josephine was preceded in death by her husband Albert in 1992; sisters Pat Lombardo, Lena Balesteri, Susie Russo, Rose Mercurio, Aldina Melicia; brothers, Horace Cardinalli, Tredo Cardinalli, Steve Cardinalli, Tom Cardinalli, and Carl Cardinalli. A vigil service with be held Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at 7:00pm with visitation beginning at 5:00pm at San Carlos Cathedral, 500 Church St., Monterey. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, March 23, at 9:30am also at the Cathedral with burial following at San Carlos Cemetery.
