Obituary of Steven Glenn Fosmark

Pebble Beach – Steven Fosmark passed away at Community Hospital of Monterey on Monday, March 13, 2017 at the age of 65, surrounded by his family. He is from a pioneer family of Norwegian and German decent that settled in Aurora Colony Oregon in 1856. He was born in Tillamook, Oregon on June 26, 1951 to Robert Stanley Fosmark and Doris Lee Fosmark. He attended Tillamook High where he played varsity football as a sophomore winning the state championship. He fell in love with fishing and was known to skip class to hunt and fish. He met his wife Kathy in Moss Landing while in port. Throughout his fishing career of 48 years he owned 2 boats and fished from Mexico to Canada. His family spent summers fishing with him and both his sons continue to be involved in the fishing industry. A strong work ethic was one of his many attributes, spending more time on the water than on land. However, he never missed a Christmas or graduation. He represented fisherman on the Western Fishboat Owner’s Association and was appointed as an advisor to the Pacific Fishery Management Council. He worked on research projects with National Marine Fisheries Service to develop sustainable fishing gear. He is survived by his wife Kathy, his daughter Stephanie Potter (Joe), his sons, Eric Fosmark (Christine) and Scott Fosmark (Debbie); grandchildren: Noah, Maxwell, Emma and Lily Potter and Kayla, Sean, Holly, and Andrew Forsmark; Sister, Carol Carder. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and they adored him. He is known throughout the West Coast for his sense of humor and was a down to earth honest man. Memorial Mass will be held Friday March 24, 2017 at 11:00am at Carmel Mission Basilica. Reception will follow at the Carmel Women's Club, San Carlos and 9th Streets.
