Obituary of Miyoko Enokida

Miyoko Enokida was born and raised in Monterey. She attended Monterey High School and Salinas Jr. College (now Hartnell College) before the World War II broke out. She was interned in Stockton and sent to Rohwer, Ark. When released from camp, she worked in Cincinnati, Ohio as a nurse’s aide. The Quakers recruited and sent her to a nursing school in Milwaukee in 1945 and she graduated in 1948. Returning to Monterey to care for her parents, she went to work in the Maturnity Ward at the Community Hospital until her retirement in 1968. Miyo was a member of the Monterey Buddhist Temple. Her favorite pastime was working in her garden and watching sports on television— especially basketball and baseball. We thank Dr. Bradley for his onging care. Special gratitude to Melanie, Alaiza and Alisha for their love, care, and compassion. They were like family to Miyo. Memorial Service to be held at the Monterey Buddhist Temple in Seaside, on Saturday, January 14, at 2:00.
