Obituary of Gregory Benson

Greg died in his sleep on October 12th. Born on April 27, 1974 in San Jose, CA, Greg attended York School and Monterey High School and graduated from North Star Academy in 1992. Greg will be missed by his wife, Cindy, mother Sheila Benson, sister Megan Benson Livernois(Phil), niece Anne Mae(8), nephew Patrick Gregory(5), and aunt Sister Eleanor Eagan, CSJ. Greg is also survived by aunts Carol Boersch(Winny) and Mary Jo Benson, uncles Frank Florence, Jr.(Karen) and Jerry Florence(Susan), along with many cousins. Greg was predeceased by his loving father Ben Arnold Benson, who died in February 2016, his uncle James Benson, grandmothers Gladys Sperry and Virginia Florence, and grandfathers James Sperry and Frank Florence. Throughout his adult life Greg had psychological and emotional challenges that compromised his ability to live the kind of life he dreamed of, challenges that called upon his courage and resilience. There were moments of grace in his life when he married, when he became an uncle, when he went to work for Monterey County Behavioral Health. His brief life was significantly validated as a devoted husband, son, brother and uncle.
