Obituary of Donald Eckerson

Donald A. Eckerson formerly of Palm Desert passed away September 4, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was raised in Salinas and graduated from Hartnell College, then he became a navy pilot. He graduated with honors from Cal Berkeley with a master’s in business admin. He began his career at Ford Motor Co, and moved on to several executive positions in upper management in the aerospace industry in Orange Co. He worked for Lockheed Martin, Cherry Textron and Manesco. He was preceded in death by his first wife Louise (Pomo) Eckerson in 2002. He is survived by two children David (Tracy) of Ventura and grandchildren Mallory (Alex), Kelsey, and Megan, daughter Jennifer (William) Makanui and granddaughter Ava of Hawaii. His sister Betty (Jim) Forbes of Angel’s Camp. He then married Sherry O’Donnell in 2005 and they shared 11 1/2 wonderful years of happiness and she lovingly cared for him until the end. He was also the stepfather and grandfather to Mike & Katie. They resided in Fresno for the past 8 years. Private services were held at San Carlos Cemetery in Monterey. Service Information
