Obituary of Mary Tringali

On Saturday, May 14, Mary Tringali passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family. She was born in Sant`Elia (Palermo) Italy to Antonino and Anna Balestreri, where she spent her childhood. In1947 she immigrated to America with her family, going through Ellis Island and settling in Monterey. There she met the love of her life, Philip and were married in 1949. Together they raised four children, traveled the world, and loved to entertain and prepare meals for their family and friends. Mary was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Family was her number one priority. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life. She was always ready to help when needed and we knew we could always count on her. The greatest gift our mother gave us was her faith. She was a devoted Catholic and would take time to pray each morning and night. Her love for Jesus and his Blessed Mother radiated in all she did for us. She had an amazing way of organizing and her joy was keeping her home in pristine condition. She also enjoyed cooking and baking with her daughters, daughter in law and grandchildren teaching and passing down her recipes. She gave our family many traditions which we all value and will continue in her memory. We took our first breath with her and she took her last breath with us. Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Philip Tringali, brother Ignacio Balestreri and granddaughter MaryAnn Tringali. Mary is survived by her four children, Sal Tringali, Florence (Turie) Cavaliere, Anthony (EvaMarie) Tringali, AnnaMaria (Jack) Aiello, her sister Nina (Frank)Tarantino; brother Antonino (Rosalia) Balestreri, nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchilren and numerous nieces and nephews. A Vigil Service will be held Thursday, May 19, 2016 at 7:00pm at San Carlos Cathedral, 500 Church Street, Monterey. Funeral mass will be celebrated Friday at 9:30am. also at San Carlos Cathedral. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to San Carlos Cathedral or your favorite charity. Service Information
