Obituary of Charles K. Faxon

Charles (Chuck) K. Faxon, a lifelong Monterey Peninsula resident, who was beloved by so many people, passed away quietly at home. This was a man who lived a noble life of quiet purpose. His guiding spirit endures in the lives of his family, his colleagues and the many friends who shared space in his generous and fulfilling presence. Chuck was born October 1, 1940 in Montana, but spent most of his life on the Monterey Peninsula. He graduated from Monterey High School in 1958, and The University of Pacific Pharmacy School in 1963. Chuck became a highly respected pharmacist on the Peninsula. Chuck left a sizable footstep of community service on the Monterey Peninsula. Chuck and his wife Shirley have been volunteers and longtime members of the Big Sur International Marathon. During Chuck’s professional career he touched the lives of many people. He was supportive to all who worked with him, he encouraged people to increase their professional skills, he adjusted work hours to accommodate family life and he provided financial incentives to assist staff gain higher educations. As a business manager he maintained a good sense of humor and a supportive environment in a professional workplace. In this last year, with Shirley by his side, Chuck fought a valiant battle with pancreatic cancer. His gracious Carmel home continued to have an open door to welcome old friends, family and colleagues who came to visit, bring food, share memories and express their love. Chuck leaves his beloved wife, Shirley, his son, Joe and daughter-in-law, Gemma, his grandsons, Jordi and Alex, sisters Carole and Joan and a large community of devoted friends.
