Obituary of Wilburta Taylor

Resident of Pebble Beach Wilbi Estelle Taylor (Prather) passed away peacefully on May 10, 2017 in Pebble Beach at the age of 89. Born in Oakland California to Daisy L. Hilburn and W. Wilbur Prather on January 7, 1928. Wilbi was the youngest of four daughters: Rosalie, Luise and Cecilia. She grew up in Willow Glen, attended Norte Dame high school and San Jose State where she fell in love with her husband the late Jack F. Taylor, meeting through her cousin Hank Hilburn. Although meeting as teenagers, it wasn't until after WWII on New Year's Eve 1947 that their love for one another began. They were married the following year on October 23, 1948. Together they raised 7 children: Stephanie, Sharon, Suzanne, Stacie, John, Saundra, and Shelby. Wilbi will always be remembered for timeless elegance and love of beautiful things. She was a talented interior designer and artist, with impeccable taste and always decorated her homes for every holiday. Active in various charitable foundations, including Sacred Heart women's group and formerly the San Jose Auxiliary for Children's Hospital at Stanford. Wilbi and Jack raised their family in Saratoga and spent their retirement in Pebble Beach and Indian Wells CA, surrounded by their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Wilbi was predeceased in death by her husband Jack F. Taylor and two daughters Sharie and Stacie. Services will be held at the Santa Rosalia Chapel within San Carlos Cemetery, 792 Fremont St., Monterey at 2PM May 19, 2017, reception immediately following.
